FedEx orders 2,000 electric trucks from Harbinger in $300 million-plus deal

Deliveries run through the end of 2027 for U.S. and Canadian pickup-and-delivery routes — one of the largest binding electric-truck orders ever.

FedEx has ordered 2,000 all-electric trucks valued at more than $300 million from Harbinger, a Garden Grove, California-based electric truck manufacturer, with deliveries scheduled through the end of 2027 for pickup-and-delivery operations in the United States and Canada.

It is one of the largest binding orders ever placed for electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks. The deal deepens an existing relationship: FedEx's earlier November 2025 order was just 53 Class 5/6 trucks, FedEx co-led Harbinger's $160 million Series C round, and FedEx senior vice president Paul Melander sits on Harbinger's board.

Harbinger cites about $20,000 a year in fuel savings per truck and a 20-year service life; FedEx is targeting an all-electric pickup-and-delivery fleet by 2040.

Why it matters: A 2,000-truck binding order from FedEx is a real-money signal for electric commercial vehicles — the technology is moving from pilot projects into fleet-scale deployment.
