Diesel hits an all-time record: $6.529 a gallon

The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s weekly on-highway diesel survey for the week of September 21 printed a national average of $6.529 per gallon — up 24.4 cents from $6.285 the prior week and up $2.78 from $3.749 a year ago. FreightWaves called it another all-time nominal high since the series began in 1994.

Regional extremes: Gulf Coast $6.177, Midwest $6.680, West Coast $7.456, California $8.246. Diesel has risen roughly 56 cents in the two weeks since $5.967 on Sept. 7. The next EIA release lands September 29.
