Nearly 2,000 citations issued to truck drivers during Operation Safe Driver Week

Commercial drivers collected thousands of warnings and citations during this year's Operation Safe Driver Week, according to CDLLife on Oct. 5.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance released results Oct. 5 from the July 12–18, 2026 detail, which ran in 36 U.S. states, seven Canadian provinces and Mexico. Law enforcement issued 3,409 warnings and 1,956 citations to commercial vehicle drivers, and 559 warnings and 648 citations to passenger vehicle drivers. This year's focus was reckless, careless and dangerous driving: commercial drivers received 50 warnings and 22 citations on that count.

Speeding was the most common violation for commercial drivers — 772 warnings and 342 citations — followed by seat-belt non-compliance (267 warnings, 270 citations) and texting or using a handheld device (106 warnings, 136 citations). Officers also issued 12 warnings and 22 citations to commercial drivers for drug or alcohol possession, use or impairment.
