A Ram ProMaster power-steering flaw affecting 265,512 vans leads the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's commercial vehicle recalls issued Monday, according to Trucks, Parts, Service on Oct. 12.

Chrysler is recalling certain 2022-2026 Ram 1500 ProMaster, Ram 2500 ProMaster, and Ram 3500 ProMaster vans, plus 2024-2026 Ram 3500 Electric vehicles. Water may enter the electric power steering wiring harness, which can disable power steering assist. A loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 265,512 units are potentially affected by the recall.

Chrysler also recalled certain 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles because the tire pressure monitoring system sensors may fail to detect low tire pressure or fail to illuminate the warning light as intended, meaning the vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138. NHTSA says 16,385 units are potentially affected.

Altec Industries is recalling certain 2020-2026 aerial devices, digger derricks, and A-Class vehicles because the turntable-mounted platform access step may have been improperly welded between the step tube and mounting plate, allowing the step to separate from the vehicle. NHTSA says 6,780 units are potentially affected.

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2025-2027 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles because the underbody insulation may contact hot exhaust components, increasing the risk of a fire. NHTSA says 24 units are potentially affected. Daimler also recalled 30 Thomas Built school buses over a software error affecting low beam headlights.

Blue Bird Body Company recalled 1,590 electric school buses over high voltage battery mounting bolts that may be loose or missing, and Greenpower Motor Company recalled 94 buses over a software error that may allow the bus to move while the wheelchair lift is deployed. Forest River recalled 75 recreational vehicles over a federal placard listing incorrect tire inflation.

Owners of affected vehicles should watch for a recall notice and contact their dealer; recall repairs are performed free of charge. Drivers can check whether a specific vehicle is included by searching its VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup page.
